Yesterday we had our Biker's Picnic. I pulled a trailer with a six foot folding table, a cooler with 50 lbs of ice blocks, a rubbermaid container with 2 kites, 4 towels, a big wool blanket, balloons, hotdog buns...and an assortment of other stuff, plus 2 folding camp chairs, a stool and a smaller cooler with some more ice.

There was probably some other stuff in there as well. Very little on my actual rack.
It wasn't terribly heavy, but I did think it was a very good idea one day to strap a plastic chair found in an alley to my rack. Long story short...it wasn't a very good idea.
this is a fun thread.

when my current roommate moved in he brought a washing machine (on a long flatbed trailer) and we
needed a supply hose. since he also brought a better microwave than I had - I took the old microwave
on my bike (bungee corded it to the milk crate) to used applicance stores attempting to "trade". After
hitting 5 stores with no successful trade; I put the microwave on the sidewalk and bought a hose for
5 bucks. the microwave was gone before I got my helmet back on...
Oh, another time I bought a trunk rack for my car (you know, to carry bikes...) from a guy off of Craigslist. When I showed up with just my bike he was surprised and didn't think I could do it. I folded it flat, put it on my rack and voila...bungies took care of the rest and I was good to go!
Once each week, I carry my wash to the laundromat, and it gets heavier earlier and later in the cycling season. I had a pretty good camping load with tent, sleeping bag, sleep pad, and Coleman stove when I last went to Illinois Beach State Park from Milwaukee.
Eh-hem....

i once carried a 6 foot tall kentia palm tree roped to the down tube of an 1973 girl's schwinn cruiser.... it faced out over my handlebars like a giant tropical phallus... needless to say i got plenty of comments on my way home. Most notably, "damn that mf is riding a f'in tree!"
bump!

Livestock ( 4 chickens) on their way to the butcher this morning. We had them for 3 years, but they stopped laying eggs. I foresee some tasty coq au vin in our future.

We put all 4 of them in a cat carrier. They fitted nice and snug, so they didn't bounce around too much. We put a towel over the cat carrier so they couldn't see too much

A flat screen computer monitor. It wouldn't fit in my bag and it was a cash and carry deal so I rode one handed with it resting on my upper thigh.

Bought some ready-to-assemble shelves, I didn't ride home but I balanced the box on the bike and rolled home.

I am the craziest and heaviest thing on my bike EVERYTIME I ride!
wow. that may be the most EXPENSIVE thing someone has carried.
