Yeah I am sure he will get nothing in sentencing. Just hope none of the vigilante'ing gets any hipster killed.
DUDE! Its THAT GUY!!!! hahaha
Great work!
To be honest he struck me more as a dumb son of a bitch than a master bike thief and I'm certainly not rooting for jail time for him, though I'm of course happy about any deterrent effect the perp walk might have on other traffickers in stolen goods.

Also, I don't really think anyone recovering bikes is a hipster...

I wanna make patches for y'all with a flashy logo, that would be a bad idea though.

Allright, Marne, good going, you finally made me LOL :-)
Hey Howard:
If there isnt one already, I propose a "happy endings" page for the Stolen Bike Registry. Perhaps a page for recovered bikes and a seperate page for convicted perps.

I just tried to check the registry multiple times but I kept geting an error message.

Nice work Iggi!! I think I just met you in WP on a slackline. Thanks for keeping bikes safer.
Tis was I, yes. But don't thank me, thank the COLLECTIVE.

We are Borg. Resistance is futile.
That just made my day....
Thanks . . . there is already a nice feature that adds a pane for recovered bikes.
People have to take the time to tell us about them though . . .
Good reminder to update the Giant when the dust settles.
There's a thread in the Bike Theft Task Force group called "recovery stories"-- someone should add this one, although it's not truly recovered until it's in the owner's hands.
There's a also a thread for suggestions for the registry . . .

Was the bike's owner present at the Swap?

If not, this is a pretty major departure from the typical police response that charges cannot be filed without the owner present. Even on a 3 time loser.

AND it's a major endorsement (by the police) of the CSBR as a resource.

Brilliant. Good job to all involved.

The guy in the pic had a Windsor taken off of him 3 weeks ago by the Bike Recovery crew. The CPD, including the officer that assisted us today, got another bike off of him last weekend on behalf of the rightful owner. Today we had a positive ID on another bike from the registry.

Cops, being fed up with him and supporting our efforts, hauled his ass in.

(iggi: God bless America!!)
