Anyone know where I can buy these in store in Chicago?

Are they pretty safe helmets?

I got mine at rapid transit on north ave, and I LOVE IT!!!
As far as safety goes: Every helmet sold in the US is CPSC approved, so there should not be a noticable safety difference between helmets.

They look like they may be a bit less ventilated than the standard stupid looking bike helmet. Might that not be a safety concern? Early onset heatstroke?

Don't get me wrong, if I ever find one in XXXL I will buy it in a hot second!
I need a XXL I saw some XXXL on Ebay

I looked at them at REI, but they only had 2, one S and one XS. But I bought one on their website for that was on sale for about $40 and like it a lot. Comfortable, and that way you wear it.
All helmets seem to be hot to me.
Iron Cycles (3136 W. Montrose) has a selection. Not sure on sizes though, maybe give em a call. 773-539-4766
I looked all over but ended up getting mine on ebay - it was cheapest and I found the one I wanted. I love it but gets hot in the summer.
Besides the no venting, they weigh 2-3 times that of a "standard stupid looking bike helmet" If your riding position is more upright that may not be a factor, but in drop bars holding your head up all day with that much more weight makes a difference. They look like a batting helmet for tball...... I am sure it will look great on kelli though, plus there is plenty of room on em for cool chainlink stickers
Weighed the Bern (Brentwood Model), 13.8 oz
Bell Faction, (bike helmet that looks like a skateboarder helmet) 14.5 oz
Bell road race type - 10.2 oz
Ed deserves an apple. Facts, my man!

I googled bern helmets and clicked on the first link, a bern brentwood, it's claimed weight was 21 oz or 595 grams, your bell weighs about 300 grams, and my giro weighs 185 grams. I now see that bern makes more lightweight models,. You deserve your apple and I applaud the educated retort.
