its never too soon to go camping camping ride (MAY RIDE 5/22, 5/23)

this thread is for keeping all the info organized for the MAY camping ride to Illinois Beach State Park in Zion.

When you ask...well, due to popular availability this will be held on 5/22 and 5/23.  Please RSVP via the link below The RSVP will need to be closed the last week of April so that we have a hard confirmation of persons and needed campsites since we need to reserve those and try to get the sites next to eachother.  They do not have group sites.  Sites are limited to 4 adults and two tents.

Metting place will be North Shore Channel Trail entrance at Lawrence & California.

I created one of those spreadsheets for doing campsite assignments. If you want to add fields, feel free to do so.

Ok...registration is closed. Now to reserve those sites. Site 203 has already been reserved by Shawn C. i just need to verify they will honor that.

So far, Michelle, Liz, Shar, S, and i believe Jami have offered to make site reservations. That puts us down for 7 sites. That gets us for 28-35 people (depends if they will let us have 5 ppl in a site). Right now we have 37 RSVPs.

I will be posting later on after i speak with Debbie at the grounds again so i can clarify the registration details.
thanks iggi for all the coordination efforts on this ... we owe you ;-)

I'm trying reserve a site. I have the form filled out, and since mail won't go out till monday, I have time for a question. There is class of campsite, I think Illinois beach is A-Premium, but I have no idea.

I'm also not sure if "campsite #" next to the site name is the same as the site number I was told to get, 258, or some identifier for Illinois Beach State park.

Is the site number the section under the class of the site?

The form I'm talking about is at http://dnr.state.il.us/lands/Landmgt/Programs/Camping/camp_app.htm
Cezar - according to the spreadsheet : I am with you and Tim and Dan (Krol).
I want to make sure we are within the 2 tent per site reqt. I have a 2+ person tent;
I can share the tent with one other if needed. If there are already 2 tents I can reserve
another site, etc. can you let me know ? you can also call or text me at 312 622 6285
thanks

Suchandra-I need a site and have a tent. Do you still want to go together on a site ?

let me know - I have the form I can send in if you want, etc.

I'm not really sure what is going on with us. We each have 1.5 person tents. Someone spoke of asking for an excemption to the two tent rule, but never got back as to the response. I'm hoping that we can throw a tarp over two 1.5 man tents and call it one. Or will they even care?

I don't know.

Then I'm not sure what's going on then. We may only be able to do three then, or reserve more sites. If we can reserve more sites, I say we do that instead of packing people together tightly.

I think we're going to keep our group at us three and see what to do with the tent situation, I think Tim might have one for two people, maybe.

Dan, now that I look at the sheet, you are with Suchandra T, and Mark C, not with us.

Hi Dan,

You're welcome to share my site. I've already sent the form in and I'm just waiting for a confirmation now.

Campers, i think some of the confusion is coming from having conversation threads on both the RSVP page and here. We should stick to one. I reccommend the RSVP page, simply because most of our questions now will be to that effect. Word?
