pitching a tent

no really...i get a stiffy for camping...

 

tis almost the season... who is up for some bicycle camping? load up your bike and/or trailer and lets watch the city disappear behind us as we head into the great outdoors.

 

there were a number of bike camping rides last year and i would love to see a few more this year.  a bike/camping group was started, and i would like to start discussing and planning possible trips..

 

you ready for roughing it?

I would be so up for a bicycle camping trip (when the weather improves a little)! The Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore Campground has great isolated "walk in" sites for cheap near Chesterton Indiana across the street from the Beverly Shores stop on the South Shore Rail line.

I am in! I just bought a 4.1 person tent and some crazy creek chairs. Maybe a May trip?

dunes was a fun trip and so was chain o'lakes.. both will be nice to revisit but I would love to explore some other areas this year just so I have the pleasue of marking things off on my been there done that list.
a close one to start off with this year could be illinois state beach

Have fun getting treated like a little kid at Chain O' Lakes again. I'd be game for Illinois State or the dunes.

I'm planning a trip to Zion mid april to mid may depending on the weather. Anyone bike camped to Zion?

A camp and bike deal is great, but I would like a deal where I could set up my camp site
and then cruise...I am not into carrying my mass quantities of beer and crap on zee bike.
Just my BBQ stuff alone weighs tons! (laughing)
