Has the Chainlink replaced the CCMlist?

I have noticed that the Critical Mass list-serve is very dead as of late and that many of the discussions we would have had on the list are taking place on Ning. Has anyone else noticed this? It's a little annoying because ning doesn't send you replies but rather links you to Ning, less efficient. And as someone who has programmed aps for Ning and used to do back end development I just also mention how much I hate Ning as a platform. Terrible, terrible app.

No, there has never been a case that I know of where a person was removed because they offended someone. That's just not how the mods on the list work.

Also I didn't post it to the list because it's kind of an annoying question and has been covered on some level before.

i dont think most have your programming stance spence since most just see the chainlink as useful for cycling info, people, meetups and more....especially when compared to the antiquated list serve.....if you want to go old school start up a zine....

Ha. No way. It's not like I am against social networking. Far from it. I think the listserve is outmoded but I don't like the Ning social networking system. I can go on and on but I won't.

I would help the Chainlink if they wanted to ditch Ning and go with http://www.jomsocial.com/. I would even host the site and pay for the service. That's how much I dislike Ning. : )

I quit the CCM list for the Chainlink a while ago. It's a lot easier to ignore all the personal drama and flame wars this way. And any useful information (events, etc.) are a lot easier to track on this website. I do agree that it's inefficient to login to read a reply, though.

How do you come to this "most just see..." conclusion? How about speaking for yourself and not trying to speak for any majority (imaginary or not)?

Easy Tony...I was simply implying that I don't see many others on here with such a great hatred of Ning due to the reasons Spencer describes. Didn't mean to 'speak' for you. Jeez

Aaron,
Forgive me if I came across as harsh.

Ning may be good as a "turn-key social networking platform" or whatever they sell it as, but the forum part of Ning is really really terrible. By far it is the worst forum software I've ever used. By a LONG SHOT. Given that the Forum is pretty much all I use here, for my purposes then, Ning is indeed a festering pile of crap.

I've said this before, but I really am grateful that the Chainlink exists. The community is great and I recognize that a lot of people have put a lot of energy into the project. I'm only whining specifically about the Ning forum software - the worst on the planet!
