The Bicycle Museum of America in Ohio? Any other cool bike related museums you recommend?

The ceiling of Cycle Smithy on Clark is pretty darn cool.

supposedly you can tour the Trek / Waterford factory, etc. near Milwaukee.
Not sure of the specifics .... but a racing buddy used to have a sweet waterford
(team Mack) with full dura ace that he watched them build up there.

one unrelated side note - you can tour the Harley-Davidson factory in Kansas City
(that's KC Missouri, not the one if Kan sas)

While not actually a bike museum, Wastyn's Cycles on Fullerton is more than a bike shop.
Wander around a check out the hand-built, (by Wastyn Cycles) track bikes on display.

I hope to ride there sometime in the next 2 years. Blue Moon bikes in Sycamore IL dedicated its upstairs to a little Schwinn Museum. Mostly Stingrays and what not but its kool. right off the Great Western Trail to :-)

I highly recommend this also.
they also have photos from the 1920's of indoor track racing at chicago stadium (aka United Center).
(I used to train with Chrisitian VadDeVelde's two great uncles that actually raced then and there
from the guys at Oscar Watsyn's. those belgians are amazing !)

Yes, in June 2008. It includes the Schwinn collection that used to be displayed on Navy Pier, where the stained glass museum is now? It was great, even though it is in the middle of nowhere! Give yourself a lot of time to look around. My pictures on Flickr

Wow, right in the backyard, thanks!! I will def check it out. I like that shop, they have been nothing but nice to me and have given me a couple of spare screws, etc.

To those that have gone... I guess so far, just Alan?
Any recommendations for anything else good in the Indiana/western Ohio area to make a full trip of it? 5 hrs. each way sounds a little tedious. I would like to go, but would rather make a weekend of it.

Yes, it was quite a trek. Fortunately I was in Columbus on business and had driven there, so I could drive back via New Bremen ...

No, but I did see the Schwinn collection when it was here - very nice collection. And I've looked at their on-line display.
