Okay so above is the map for tonight's "Ring of Fire" ride. Thanks Andrew for all the help!
WE NEED "ROUTE LEADERS!" So if you want to be in the front, be the center of attention and would like to direct traffic please contact me at spencer@uglatto.com or call 1-312-725-6661. You'll get a lamented flyer out of the deal!

If you have a sound bike and want to sync soundtracks you can download the Best Damned Halloween Mixtape Sides A and B, here and here.
The Yes Men! are reported to bring their survival ball to Daley Plaza around 5:30 and play with us until we leave. It's possible they have something clever in store for us because they are supposed to ride off with their ball so I think this silly thing has wheels! Maybe we can convince them to join us on the first leg of the trip.
Alex Wilson of West Town Bikes fame is running a "Momentum Mori" which is a memorial ride for the cyclists who have been killed around the city. Inspired by the Ghost Bikes. Come join us for the procession this Friday, October 30th. They will meet at the Northwest corner of Clark and Randolph at 5:00pm to assemble for the ride. Dress in all white, as glammed up or ghouled out as you would like.

Orleans near the end after Chicago and before Illinois is missing. People might not know when to turn.

But other than that I really like it!
And this is why I always post these kind of things to review. I am infamous for missing things at work. : ) THANKS!
I updated the map, I didn't version it so it just replaced the above image. Give me details on changes yo.
Just talked:
Suggested different GB link: http://bikechicago.info/ghostbikes
But even minimal silent markers near their spots will be left off art.
Mentioned possibly adding links to ChicagoCriticalMass.org maybe also massup.us
Happy with Ring of Fire, but suggested other puns like "Wheels A-Fire" or "Flame On" or "Incombustible"
Spencer plans to print several hundred, half page, needs chip ins later. His work this mass has been Herculean. Cliff, message me your phone/email just in case.

As usual all able are strongly encouraged to familiarize yourself with the route now in prep for shepherding cats. I'll mount my flag.

Audio carriers, download Spencer's mixes if you wanna run with semi-syncro sound: http://spencer4hire.info
Like Andrew just said the map has been finalized. Yay! I'll update this image and upload it to the CMass site shortly.

Now that that is done we need to focus on keeping the ride together and that means people need to be ride leaders. You know turning the right direction, massing up when we need to and generally being the center of attention. I cannot really do this job adequately since I lug around a relatively dense sound trailer plus I am TERRIBLE with left and right.

So who is up for it? You'll get a laminated map, pretty sweet deal.

If no one steps up to lead it's not the end of the world 'cause it'll be a fun ride even if we don't follow the map.
Here's another element to factor into tonight's ride. It will be quite the spectacle!

Opera-Matic needs YOU!

You may have seen the launch of the Lullabike project on a quiet summer night in July. Our next project is for the Halloween Critical Mass Ride, “Momentum Mori”, which is a memorial ride for the cyclists who have been killed around the city. Inspired by the “Ghost Bikes”, bikes painted white at locations where cyclists have been killed, our bike procession will feature a Crossing Guard Warrior Goddess onchariot led by Ghost Horses, flanked by Ghost Riders riding white bikes and dressed in all white.

We would like to have as many people as possible participate in this project as the Ghost Riders. Come join us for the procession this Friday, October 30th. We will meet at the Northwest corner of Clark and Randolph at 5:00pm to assemble for the ride. Dress in all white, as glammed up or ghouled out as you would like. You can temporarily color your bike white using a white "wash out" hair color spray, available at Sally Beauty Supply, or wig or party shops. You may also wrap white crepe paper around the frame and handle bars.

The ride starts around 5:30 and goes around a planned route. For anyone who is new to the Critical Mass ride, it is a blast and the Halloween ride is especially a treat.

We hope to create residency projects throughout the year celebrating the changing seasons that bring community together in music and art.
Just to add to the CRAZY NUMBER OF THINGS HAPPENING TONIGHT!

I hear from a normally pretty reliable source when it comes to this kind of thing that since their new movie The Yes Men Fix The World, http://bit.ly/bjjcX , is premiering here in Chicago tonight the Yes Men want to do some publicity. According to my friend they are currently planning on making an appearance at Critical Mass tonight at Daley Plaza. They will then ride off in their survivaball gear. It's possible they will join us for the first leg of our trip. I will try and get them the map.

Wow. Perfect. I probably could've not even helped watch the map and just played, ie. we were maybe over-leadered, a first! Spencer, this one was all you. Such productivity is rare. Do you PayPal?

892 memories, no photos.
I need to confess, my last maybe 60 maps (over 10% of total?) leaped from my pocket while circling plaza, and were immediately unrecoverable in the mass behind. So sorry to be such a loser (of maps).

890 more stories to come, but one standout now, as if he even needed to, TC recharged his rocks my world factor *104 with the honking smoking drunk driving asshole car costume. Dude, you've raised the bar.

Riddler out.
What was the deal with one of the sound bikes getting pulled over in mass? Do we have a noise ordinence to deal with now?
I was stopped repeatedly with my sound bike. The first time I had it very loud and had to turn it down some. Later I was told to turn it down more. The last time I had to turn it very low before they were satisfied.

They threatened arrest too.

I really don't know what set them off. This was the first time this has happened to me on a mass. The cops also hassled T.C., John Greenfield and others on that ride. In the past, when the mass did provocative things like expressway incursions we'd get a little more heat the following month. But I'm unaware of anything that set them off this time.
