Okay so above is the map for tonight's "Ring of Fire" ride. Thanks Andrew for all the help!
WE NEED "ROUTE LEADERS!" So if you want to be in the front, be the center of attention and would like to direct traffic please contact me at spencer@uglatto.com or call 1-312-725-6661. You'll get a lamented flyer out of the deal!

If you have a sound bike and want to sync soundtracks you can download the Best Damned Halloween Mixtape Sides A and B, here and here.
The Yes Men! are reported to bring their survival ball to Daley Plaza around 5:30 and play with us until we leave. It's possible they have something clever in store for us because they are supposed to ride off with their ball so I think this silly thing has wheels! Maybe we can convince them to join us on the first leg of the trip.
Alex Wilson of West Town Bikes fame is running a "Momentum Mori" which is a memorial ride for the cyclists who have been killed around the city. Inspired by the Ghost Bikes. Come join us for the procession this Friday, October 30th. They will meet at the Northwest corner of Clark and Randolph at 5:00pm to assemble for the ride. Dress in all white, as glammed up or ghouled out as you would like.

I don't think thats what they said exactly but basically they hang out at the corner in uptown where the street fight was shot and that keeps the gangbangers from doing stupid stuff
Oh, that makes sense.
It looked like there needed to be a central location for any and all points, you can view the Halloween Points of Interest Google Map at http://bit.ly/ZMIbn

Also I've shared a map with anyone who has a Google Maps account which you can edit,

If you load both the points of intrest map and these directions on top of each other in Google Maps, yes you can layer multiple maps on top of each other, you'll be able to see that this template covers a lot of ground. It probably isn't a very good map for thousands of reasons but it does get from point a to b and it does get the ball rolling - http://bit.ly/17I83k
yea that whole going on LSD is problimatic. The only way that is done is by going south where LSD begins. Other than that I like the amount of turns. If it is a huge mass that allows people to catch up by taking shortcut.
He he, whenever I make a map I always try and sneak a little LSD action in. But in light of the tragedy with Lisa Whitacre this afternoon and the various other Ghost bikes we will be visiting I doubt the encouragement of reckless biking will be very popular or appropriate.

Here is a revised non LSD version, http://bit.ly/24u2qP

I still don't think this is a very good map. 23 miles is probably too long even for the best ride of the year, there are really long stretches at Diversey and Clark, the part at Clark and Montrose is way too complicated and the ending kinda sucks. But again I stress, this is just a thought, someone better at making maps should revise it or just use the points of interest overlay and make something good.
23 miles is way too long for a CCM. they usually are about 14 to 15 miles long. It is not a bad route. It just needs to be boiled down to it's best bits and shortened.
Cross-posting:
Final Halloween route draft meeting SUNDAY!
I propose my place for best computing resources, east Andersonville, after Marauder recovery wake-up after 1pm. Anyone seriously thinking of coming do tell ideal time. If you do not know my exact address, email me offlist, but basically I'm between Berwyn and BrynMawr RedLine stops. LakeFrontPath, Glenwood, Broadway, Halsted, Ravenswood all work to 5400 N. Snax and drinx and potty available. I wouldn't think much more than two hours.

I think we have enough to work with to start plotting lines. Simple combo of fire, ghost, visibility, and prior years. Feel free to start beforehand. I expect to chat with a number of CCM regulars Saturday seeking ideas, so am not planning to draft anything before Sunday.
Hey sound bikers,
I finished my Halloween Mixtape last night. If played together side A and B equal 3:33 worth of Halloween madness. The beginning and ending are made to seamlessly connect to the other so that the Mixtape could play twice to time 6:66. I'll be playing this at the Halloween mass and any other sound biker is more than welcome to use it as well. If you are a sound biker and want something included or changed give me an email, spencer@uglatto.com, or comment on Soundcloud and we'll work something out.

I've crunched out a revision zero proposed route:
http://chicagocriticalmass.org/routedev

On further consideration, rather than my prior proposed "Fire" theme, now I think we should mainly just tour the Ghost Bikes. Proposed route has Fire and Spooky points of interest, but is primarily defined by a 16 mile loop of 9 ghosts.

Constructive feedback urgently solicited please. Targeting pre-ride Wed, finalize Thu, print Fri.
I like the route Andrew. Is the last bit, the part after Division and the highway to Navy Pier optional, or still under consideration? it is kinda grayed out.
Either way, the route is a sound one if you ask me. Perhaps one of these days I will take a real part in planning one of these things, instead of just being a spectator, commentator.

What time do you plan on taking the pre-ride on Wednesday?
Exactly, the grayed final leg is optional. A further four miles for additional fire points of interest, to Navy Pier for seasonal entertainment, but that's 20 miles total, only for the heartiest.
