Feel free to share your sound-bites about why we should reduce car-dependency on the event wall. I'll refer to them for tomorrow's propaganda. And, I know it should be fewer, not less. Playing off the idea of One Less Car overruled my inner grammarian.

Hope to see lots of folks out tomorrow.
Imagine yourself not stuck in traffic!

Music is my Traffic Jam!

I wish I could be there, I'm leaving for Interbike tomorrow morning. Good luck!
Just imagine...
With one million less cars, Chicago would have even more of the things that it needs to be a truly great city. Coincidentally, they are things that improve quality of life for all:

More clean air
More chats with friends on the street (it's easier to run into them by foot and bike)
More physical activity, with the purpose of travel, rolled into one
More support for high quality public transit
More peace and quiet
More time
More money
More safe public space for people, especially children and elders
More bike parking!

See you tomorrow at Daley Plaza!
can't wait! see you all tomorrow!~
Happy Chicagoland Car-Free Day everyone...hope to see you all at the One Million Less Car Rally Tonight!

Big rally, Bike Winter Sticker, Bike Winter Planning, less cars...very cool!

Ethan, with Active Trans

PS: We hit more than 1,100 pledges, thanks to everyone who signed on!
I did post to CCM a few days ago. Again, maybe a filtering issue??? Also, Lee posted a reminder about it. Working on propaganda as we speak! Trying to keep is positive ;-)
Or how about "Tow Like a Pirate Day". We could have a group sing-a-long of the Steve Goodman classic:

Lincoln Park Pirates lyrics

Lincoln Park Pirates
by Steve Goodman

The streetlamps are on in Chicago tonight,
And lovers a'gazin' at stars;
The stores are all closin', and Daley is dozin',
And the fat man is counting the cars.

And there's more cars than places to put 'em, he says,
But I've got room for them all;
So 'round 'em up boys, 'cause I want some more toys,In the lot by the grocery store.

To me, way, hey, tow them away,
The Lincoln Park Pirates are we,
From Wilmette to Gary, there's nothin' so hairy
And we always collect our fee!

So it's way, hey, tow 'em away,
We plunder the streets of your town,
Be it Edsel or Chevy, there's no car too heavy,
And no one can make us shut down.

We break into cars when we gotta,
With hammer and pickaxe and saw;
And they said this garage had no license;
But little care I for the law!

Our drivers are friendly and courteous;
Their good manners you always will get;
'Cause they all are recent graduates
Of the charm school in Joliet.

To me, way, hey, tow them away,
The Lincoln Park Pirates are we,
From Wilmette to Gary, there's nothin' so hairy
And we always collect our fee!

So it's way, hey, tow 'em away,
We plunder the streets of your town,
Be it Edsel or Chevy, there's no car too heavy,
And no one can make us shut down.

And when all the cars are collected,
And all of their fenders are ruined,
Then I'll tow all the boats in Belmont HarborTo the Lincoln Park Lagoon;

And when I've collected the ransom,
And sunk all the ones that won't yield;
I'll tow all the planes that are blocking the runways
At Midway, O'Hare, and Meigs Field!

To me, way, hey, tow them away,
The Lincoln Park Pirates are we,
From Wilmette to Gary, there's nothin' so hairyAnd we always collect our fee!
So it's way, hey, tow 'em away,
Now citizens, gather around,
And I think it's enough, let's call his bluff,
Let's throw the bum out of town!
I feel sorry for the Parking Ticket Geek. He looks like he's drowning in those mysterious orange papers, and he sounds really stressed! It's unfortunate his family is unable to find schooling, daycare or groceries closer to their home.
I wish he could come to the Rally tonight and meet some car-free families who haul their kids around and manage to feed them without (or rarely) using private cars. But sounds like he'll be too busy "joy"riding around town.
I'm bringing cookies.

I was thinking maybe "Walk Like a Pirate Day"?

How about "Walk Like a Patriot"? During the flag-waving days of 2002, I had a t-shirt with an image of marching Revolutionary War soldiers and the slogan "Real Patriots Walk."
Walk Like a Pirate isn't bad, but I've always preferred the simple motto: Live Free or Drive.
