The Chainlink

We're doing the ride on tandem and we're getting ready for it. Seems like a lot of fun from the website and you tube videos plus its New belgium. They know how to party..

Just wondering if anyone has any idea how many people will be participating

there's room for to 250 teams, so up to 500 riders will be out.
(i'll be at the wicker park CP, along with iggy, shar, and cate. we'll try not to laugh too hard while you all throw things at your teammates... so feel free to say hello and offer us bribes!)
My brother and I are doing it again! We are so excited!! Keep an eye out for the Fowler Prowlers ;o)

Also, I'm praying that they are not doing the wheel barrow checkpoint again this year, that thing was terrible last year!

The swag was much improved this year, the shirts are super nice (and don't smell funny like last year's), nice water bottle, bell, pins, stickers, calendar, bag...

It's too late to join now, but keep it in mind for next year, we just felt like kids again last year as we rode huge big wheels and went down curly slides!
i will also be at oz park hey gibbles you bringing the coffee?

I'll be at Oz park handing out beads and encouraging the riders with the 3 legged race. Should be fun.
And by encouraging, I mean pointing and laughing.

guess its time to dream about big wheels and awesome new belgium fun. See you all in a couple hours
awesome ride! yes, i bucked up and paid my fee. jackie (one of the organizers) was great. and despite having what i think is a mild case of pneumonia, we did all right. can't wait for it next year!
Yeah but I am pretty sure none of them help to support an awesome local bike resource like West Town Bikes, nor do they have the schwag and support.

we have alleycats on the regular that cost 5 dollars.
I had a good time. Favorite part was def the big wheels. The stupid plunger skate board thing can go f itself. We got stuck in the manhole for something like 5 minutes.
The event that I did help was the plunger. This is were 2 people get on a skateboard & use a plunger for a paddle. You can't use your feet nor hands. The object is too get 3 different color cans & come back to get a beat. There's seven events & each one is different. The 1st team to finish the quickest wins. It's about a 20 mile course. I loved it!

I realize you have to go to the party to get the party favors, but I'd love to hear any descriptive f/u on how this went as I have a very spotty concept of what the event involves.
The key to that one was the route you choose; the manhole had to be avoided.

Everyone hating my checkpoint has left me with low self esteem, I need a hug.

This ride was awesome...The whole day turned out great actually even after starting the morning on the wrong foot after realizing how hard it is to load and unload a tandem from the L...yeah

The best part was our big wheel photo finish. About a block away from the finish line we rode past a group of riders waiting to turn on a red light including two teams we kept running into at every checkpoint. As we ride by the whole group starts yelling "tandem" and it was on as they took sidewalks and whatever it took to catch up in a mad dash towards the finish. After some awesome power slides and unbelievable moves never before seen on a big wheel we came up victorious...epic

On our way home from the party we ran into a couple hundred riders from the windy city cruisers that ride out of Humbolt with tricked out vintage fat tire cruisers. We stopped to say hi and take pictures of their bikes and they were so cool they invited us to join their ride
come on- you know you were laughing at all of us on those stupid longboards... :D

I have to say it was an amazing ride, except for my team mate getting struck by a car in the last like 5 blocks of the race, we were doing pretty well too, so after the filed police report, that added like 45min to the overall time but we finished minus a bike...i have to say the keen shoe check point sucked the most partially due to the long line although I'm glad we got there some what sooner, and I found out I'm uncoordinated haha

On that note, atleast everyone had a chance to win some swag at the end, ended up with a timbuk2 bag and some clif bars and book :) and free beer is always good
