The Chainlink

Share your pics, videos, streets, stories of what you find in the bike lane of the non-bike variety that has an impact on your ride and/or your safety. I've decided to keep it a little more open ended - cars, snow, buses, garbage, cabs, etc. If they shouldn't be in the bike lane, go ahead and add it to this thread. Please be safe if you are taking pics or video! :-)

My hope is that we can collectively build some evidence of what we see when riding in the city with the overall hope of better enforcement of "bikes only" and improving maintenance.

Update: More Hashtags to Capture Vehicles in the Bike Lane

With popular hashtags:
#BikeLaneShaming

#LaneSpreading (Chicago Bike Selling)

#ClearTheWay (ActiveTrans), there are many options to capture violations.

We think you should use ALL of them AND post your photos on The Chainlink. ;-)

What bike lane?

The other day a Walsh Construction truck was parked in a bikelane. He got out and his vest said "safety first".... So I yelled Safety first to him!

This morning on Kinzie at Clinton. I told the driver he was in the bike lane illegally and needed to move; he replied "Thank you" and stayed where he was.

This asshole who wouldn't move after cutting me off in the Kinzie bike lane. Already used the Uber form mentioned in another discussion to report him. Not expecting any response.

I wonder if the "I like cops" plate frame really works.

Didn't even notice that before. The 2 cop friendly stickers on the windshield must give him permission to stop in a bike lane right next to the No Stopping, No Standing, Tow Zone sign. My bad.

Kinzie just east of Orleans on Monday during rush hour (5:40 pm). Dude was in the car, playing with his phone, hazards on, totally oblivious - or not caring - that he was in the bike lane.

Anyone get a good picture of the dumpsters stored in the Harrison St. PBL between Clark and Dearborn last night or this AM? It was a nice visible reminder that cyclist safety is less important than trash.

Not my picture. But seriously WTF.

bad design to have entries to bike trail, multipurpose trail that does not have physical barriers to prevent motor vehicles from entering.
