I searched the archives and tried to find info online to no avail....I'm going to a concert at the Pavilion on Northerly Island Friday night and am wondering what the bike parking situation is? Any advice? Thanks!

There are a few bike racks at the park district building right next door. It's the former Meigg's Field terminal building. It'll be just a short walk back to the Pavilion.

There should be bike parking in the grassy area south of the parking lot on the west side of Lynn White Drive in this aerial view. There's also bike parking near the 12th Street beach house, and slightly north and west of the Adler Planetarium entrance, nearer to the curb.

Thanks everyone! (Note to self: next time you need to know if there are bike racks, check Google street view!) :o)

Shelley-- can you give a little summary of what you found?

Were the racks full?

I plan to go tonight and haven't decided how to get there yet.  Taking a bike downtown can be a liability if there's nothing secure to lock it too . . .

Also-- where do they take the tickets? Can I get t o the rack area before buying a ticket?

I highly recommend biking there (and thanks for the help from everyone confirming this before I went!).

There are quite a few racks right at the entrance, near the "will call"/ticket booth. The bike racks are outside of the pavillion entrance--per your question about where they take tickets, you have to park/lock your bike before you give your ticket to get into the pavillion.

I got there at about 6:45 pm for Friday night's concert (which started at7:30), and mine was the first bike there. But the rack did fill up as I was waiting for my friends to arrive--and I imagine more people may have biked if it hadn't been so hot last week--so you may want to go on the early side just to be sure.

Have fun!

Perfect response, thanks!

I don't know about other shows but there will be bike valet for the Phish shows this weekend.  You can bring a small bag into the event and an empty water bottle.  Looking  at the parking prices it seems biking is a very good option.  That's my plan.

I used the bike valet last night for the Phish show and it was awesome! Very fast in and out. The venue didn't really check my bag. I had my helmet, lock, two full water bottles, tools, etc in my backpack and I walked right in. Now my ride home could have been nicer..

Thank you so much for this thread. Only info I can find in bike parking at northernly island. So helpfull!!! I will bike!

+1

i wasn't expecting the bike vallet and it worked really well.

I found this link today when looking for info on bike parking for shows at the Northerly Island Pavilion.  Apparently, the bike valet is not a regular fixture there.  Their web page gives info on bike racks near Gate 1, and when I phoned today they confirmed that there is not a regular valet service.  Would have been nice, but we'll just have to take our chances with the regular racks, or use Divvy and hope that there are free spaces in the nearby Divvy stations.
