Abus

Bordo 6000 Bike Lock ($130 MSRP)

For the longest time, our choices for securing bikes were largely limited to cables and U-locks. The Abus Bordo 6000 truly combines the best of both worlds.

Specifically, its unique folding design allows for cable-like flexibility, enabling you to more easily snake it through spoked wheels, and reach around poles. But when you’re ready to ride, it collapses down to the size of a mini U-lock for easy transport, while offering similar security.

On top of that, it comes with one of the slickest carrying cases we’ve seen. So, if you’re willing to sacrifice a water bottle mount, or the underside of your top tube, you’ll get a super convenient place to quickly stash the lock, saving wear and tear on your panniers or backpack.

Rated a “10” out of “15” in Abus’ security scale, this should be adequate for all but the most high-risk areas. For those situations, we’d suggest pairing the Bordo 6000 with an Abus Granit X Plus 540 U-lock.
