We're planning an exciting event for this spring - the planting of 20-25 young oak trees along the Major Taylor Trail. Friends of the Major Taylor Trail is working with the Openlands TreeKeepers program on this very green trail improvement.
Tree planting experience is helpful but not required. The most important things are your ability to dig with a shovel, help lift and carry large things and follow directions.
Hiking boots or work boots are recommended. If you have work gloves, please bring them. If not, some work gloves will be available for use. All needed tools will be provided.
If you think you'll be able to help, please respond so we have an idea how many volunteers to expect.

A big THANK YOU to everyone who came. We had a great volunteer turnout. Having so much enthusiastic help made the job much easier.
I hope you'll come back and join us to ride the trail on 5/18. Or come back anytime and watch our beautiful young oaks grow.
I'm excited -- this Northsider has never been to Major Taylor. I'm almost a Treekeeper, too. I will be driving, though, since I have to go somewhere after... :(
Looks like it will be a beautiful day for tree planting tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing you all there.
hey Anne, I'm planning to take my bike on the train to 115th/Kensington. I'm a Treekeeper too! See you there! --Rochelle
